Questions to ask your wedding photographer

Finding & choosing a photographer for your wedding day can be overwhelming – I hear this all the time. It’s also an important decision – these are images you’ll treasure forever – which can leave couples feeling a lot of pressure to make the BEST choice. This should be such a fun & exciting time in your life, so let me help you cut through the noise! Below is a list of important questions to ask every photographer you’re considering. Reviewing their answers will help you make a choice you can feel confident in! It will feel so good to cross this off your planning list & move on to something REALLY fun… like cake tasting.

Will you be photographing our wedding, or will it be someone from your team?

Will you bring a second photographer or assistant?

What is the backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for an unexpected reason?

How many weddings do you photograph each year?

How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

Can we see a full wedding gallery?

Can you describe your photography style?

Can you describe how you approach a wedding day?

What is included in your services? Can we customize a package to suit our needs?

Can we see a copy of your contract?

What is your cancellation policy?

What rights will we have to our images?

Do you offer payment plans?

Do you edit the images yourself? What is your editing process?

When & how are our images delivered?

Can we order albums & prints directly from you?

Do you have insurance?

How will you help us prepare before our wedding day?

Do you have back-up equipment?

What steps do you take to protect our photos?

Hopefully this list helps you make the big decision! If you’d like to hear my answers to these questions, let me know! Send me an email (kate@katekaplanphoto.com) or use the form on my contact page to get the conversation going.
